INTERNATIONAL MEETING 2010 IN SPA BELGIUM

Thank you, Belgium!

for organising three lovely day's at Royal Golf Club des Fagnes in Spa.
A nice course although quite difficult, as the results showed!

Our team, Erik Sundberg, Gunilla Huldt,Christina Andersson, Eva-Karin Brodd och Ulf Brasen (Ulf Brodd, reserv)
who played for the "London Challange Cup" fought well, most matches went to the 18th,
but was beaten by the Swiss team in the semi-fina,4/1. Erik being our only winner.
A very strong Belgium team won the final, 4/1. Belgium had great succes in this years international
meeting winning all trophy's but two. Well done Anita Mortensen who won the England Challenge Cup (ladies)
the last day.
All lot of prizes went the UK way, congratulations to you all (see international results).

Each day 49! players from six countries struggled on a tricky and narrow course, in sunshine one day
to follow by heavy rain the next day. Afternoon play got abandon due to thunder.
But with a half-way bar, serving drinks and sandwiches, we managed.

The mornings 18 holes was followed by a nice BBQ. Well fed most of us played another  9 holes in the
format of 4BBB, the first day and foursomes, the third day.

Paul Willimas arranged, with the help of Cecilia Block, a popular sweepstake for one of the days.
We had to guess how many balls were lost by all 49 players over the first two 18 holes rounds.
Answer 163 balls. Last year in Spain 68 players managed to lose 277 balls over 18 holes!
Much better this year.

The next International meeting will be held in Germany, 25-28 May.
Look forward to seeing many of you there.

"Fullt Drag" at this year's International Meeting in Spain

Thank you, Spain.. ..

for organising three lovely day's at Almenara GC with v-e-r-y windy days and chilly mornings.

It was however perfect for all UK players, so no wonder it was the UK team who got to lift the sought after Michael Nessim trophy at the end of the week. Well done Pax Andersson, Cecilia Block, Douglas Nurse, Eva-Karin Brodd, Johan Laven and Christina Andersson (reserve).

A lot of other prizes went the UK way during the week. Congratulations to you all. (see more on "international results")

Each day 68 players from 6 countries struggled on a total of 27 holes, with plenty of water and narrow fairways. However, with a mobile bar accompanying us around the course, filled with sweets, beer and whisky, we somehow managed.

We played 18 holes stable ford in the mornings followed by a delicious buffet lunch. Well fed, most of us played another 9 holes in the format of 4BBB and foursomes on alternate days. It's really tough to be on the tour!

On the last day, when 20 players played the team semi-final and final, the rest of us played an enjoyable Texas Scramble, with each team made up of four players from different countries. Congratulations Ulf Brasen who was part of the winning team.

I said it was a tight course, played in windy conditions. Paul Williams arranged a sweepstake for one of the days. We had to guess how many balls were lost by all 68 players over 18 holes. – Answer: :277 balls! One player managed to loose 18! He didn't win.

The next international meeting will be held in Spa, Belgium on the 25th-27th of May 2010. Hope there won’t be too many springs on the course! Looking forward to see you there.
